Golf Live Update: With Brooks Koepka expected to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational series, the PGA Tour is laying out plans to increase purses at several marquee events and revamp its schedule.
According to Sky Sports News, the four-time major winner, who has removed all PGA Tour references from his social media profiles, will compete in the second event in Portland next week.
The 32-year-old has withdrawn from Thursday’s PGA Tour event, the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, to become the latest big name to join the contentious series, following Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Phil Mickelson.
LIV also announced on Tuesday that world number 20 Abraham Ancer has joined LIV and will compete in next week’s event, but world number four Collin Morikawa has denied any plans to follow.
To state for the record, once again, you all are absolutely wrong. I’ve said it since February at Riviera that I’m here to stay on the @PGATOUR and nothing has changed. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some cereal to pour in my milk

On Tuesday, the two-time major champion and defending Open champion tweeted: “To be clear, you are all completely wrong once again. Since February at Riviera, I’ve said that I’m here to stay on the @PGATOUR, and nothing has changed.”
The PGA Tour is expected to announce plans to compete with the newly formed LIV Golf Invitational Series.
According to reports, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan plans to increase purses at limited-field events during the regular season to at least $20 million and to create a new, lucrative fall schedule for the top 50 finishers in the FedEx Cup standings.
These new tournaments, like LIV’s, would rotate around the world and have no cut.
Monahan is scheduled to speak with the media on Wednesday at TPC River Highlands, with the tournament beginning on Thursday.
Fitzpatrick: I’m not bothered by the LIV series
Matt Fitzpatrick, the newly crowned US Open champion, has also reaffirmed his commitment to the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, saying he is “not really concerned” about the current list of defectors.
“They’re more than capable of competing with any rival tour that wants to seize control of golf, in my opinion. I’m not too worried about it.
“I know the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour aren’t going away, and I feel like the most important thing for me is that I have a place to play and that’s where I want to play.
