At the Hero Indian Open, Marcel Siem, who last claimed victory on the DP World Tour in 2014, defeated fellow German Yannik Paul by one stroke after shooting a final-round 68. Joost Luiten and Scot Euan Walker tied for third place.
Marcel Siem ended his long wait for a sixth DP World Tour victory as he won the Hero Indian Open by a single stroke.
The 42-year-old German had not won at this level since the 2014 BMW Masters, which was eight years and 116 days prior. Nevertheless, a final-round 68 saw him defeat Yannik Paul of his own nation to reclaim the trophy.
Going into the final round one shot behind overnight leader Paul, Siem, who earned his card for the 2023 season at the Qualifying School in November, sunk a 20-foot birdie putt on the fourth hole to take a share of the lead.
Siem gained a stroke on the par-five eighth before making back-to-back gains on holes 10 and 11 to create a two-shot lead.
Nevertheless, a bogey on the 13th forced a two-shot change, and Paul birdied the hole to tie Siem for the lead at 13 under.
After holding onto par on the challenging 14th hole, Siem hammered out for a birdie at the following hole from 15 feet away to retake the lead.
In order to finish the competition on 14-under par and win a long-awaited fifth championship, he added three additional pars to his final round.

Joost Luiten of the Netherlands placed third, another shot behind Paul, who finished alone in second place on 13 under.
Euan Walker, a Scot, finished with a final-round score of 70 to tie for 13th place on four under.
“This means a lot,” Siem exclaimed, “since two years ago I wasn’t even certain whether I could still participate in the DP World Tour and now I’m a winner again, come on!”
