Wimbledon: Alexander Zverev had surgery on ruptured ligaments in his right ankle, and his brother Mischa has expressed serious worries about his readiness for Wimbledon.
Last week, the German world No. 3 was forced to withdraw from his semi-final match against Rafael Nadal at the French Open.
At Roland Garros, Zverev twisted his ankle at the conclusion of the second set, yelling in anguish as Nadal came around the net to assist him.
The German was helped to his feet before being wheeled off the court for treatment.
The 25-year-old reappeared on crutches after five minutes to advise the umpire that he was unable to continue.
Zverev has revealed that he underwent surgery for the injury, but he has not stated when he expects to return.

“We all have our own journey in life,” Zverev wrote on Instagram. This is a part of my collection. I’ll reach a career-high position of number two in the world next week, but I had surgery this morning.
“We received confirmation that all three of the lateral ligaments in my right ankle were damaged after further evaluation in Germany.
“Surgery was the greatest option for returning to competition as soon as possible, ensuring that all of the ligaments heal properly, and regaining full ankle stability.”
“My rehab starts now and I’ll do everything to come back stronger than ever!
“I am continuing to receive so many messages and would like to thank everyone once again for supporting me during such a difficult time.”
Zverev’s brother Mischa told German newspaper Bild that Wimbledon is “out of the question” for the 25-year-old, with the grass-court Grand Slam set to begin on June 27.
