Derek Chisora: The fallout from Tyson Fury’s failure to get a fight with Anthony Joshua is still being felt throughout the sport.
Despite the fact that Fury will now face Derek Chisora in December, Chisora thinks the WBC heavyweight champion is concentrating too much on his other British opponent.
Fury ruled out ever boxing Joshua after announcing his match with Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Thursday. He even flaunted the £10,000 he won from promoter Frank Warren for betting that AJ would not agree to a contract for their hypothetical fight.
Chisora claimed that AJ was living rent-free inside Tyson’s skull. “Tyson wakes up every day thinking about AJ and is unable to discuss AJ in an interview.
“AJ is away, leading a self-sufficient existence. I don’t see why Tyson keeps bringing up AJ.”
The likelihood of a long-anticipated fight between Fury and Joshua taking place in December was increased. Chisora intervened to challenge the WBC title when those negotiations failed.
Derek Chisora, however, thinks it’s wrong to hold Joshua responsible for the breakdown of those talks with Fury.
Because of the numerous issues with sponsors and promoters, AJ was unable to compete, according to Chisora.
The businesspeople that surround them cause issues because they get in the way of the boxers’ constant desire to battle.
Chisora has previously faced Fury twice, but this will be his first fight for a world championship since defeating Vitali Klitschko in 2012.
He was certain that his victory over Kubrat Pulev in July had put him back in the running for a significant match.
Chisora claimed, “I knew the bout was happening directly after I beat Pulev.
He stated that organising this event with Fury was anything but simple.
Chisora stated, “The managers and promoters get in the way, they make it difficult.
“Even this battle and this contract were giving me headaches.
“People often believe that starting a large argument is simple, but it’s always such a hassle.”
It raises a significant problem in boxing, one that is especially pervasive in the sport played by males. Fans and fighters talk about the best fights far too frequently without ever getting to see them.
Chisora will at least hope that he can capitalise on any potential distraction as Fury reflects on a fight that never was and anticipates a potential undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk next year.
