Forget Wilder: Even Anthony Joshua has become tired of the protracted bickering that has prevented the biggest matches in the heavyweight class from taking place.
He had been connected to a battle with another heavyweight former champion, America’s Deontay Wilder. Instead of waiting for that fight to happen, Joshua will face Dillian Whyte next month.
“Forget Wilder and his ilk; they’ve been messing with my head for years,” he stated. “I don’t waste my time on frivolous activities.
“I’m not really wasting my time waiting for or chasing people,” he explained. “I’m still willing to go down there and fight whoever.”
“All right, let’s go. Do you understand what I mean? I could fight right now. It’s in your soul.
“I just want to fight.”
Joshua and Whyte faced one other for the first time since agreeing to a rematch.
“I believe it will be an even better fight than the first time,” Whyte said. “It’ll be a good fight; we’re still hungry, and I can’t wait to get in there.”
Both were composed when they met again in person, although the two British heavyweights have a long history of hostility. They competed as amateurs, with Whyte winning before Joshua gained his professional retribution by knocking Whyte out in a tense 2015 British title fight.

Joshua went on to become the undisputed world heavyweight champion. He lost his championships against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk, and the Ukrainian defeated him again until Joshua bounced back to beat Jermaine Franklin earlier this year.
“Get the ‘W’ after those losses,” Joshua remarked. “We’ve arrived, ready to rock and roll.
“I don’t see Dillian as a competitor; I just see him as another body. They are quite hostile towards me.
“I just watch myself, worrying about my lane.”
