Boxing News: Anees Taj has vowed to end Viddal Riley’s undefeated record in just six rounds with a shocking knockout.
Riley has extended his flawless record with three victories in 2022, including two stoppages inside the first three rounds, and is now recognised as a rising danger in the competitive cruiserweight division.
Riley now turns his focus to Taj, who participated in the BOXXER Series competition from the previous year. Riley hopes to kick off his 2023 campaign in grand fashion with another exciting victory on Saturday’s Adam Azim bill.
Taj and Riley argued during Boxxer’s simulated head-to-head news conference, with Taj asserting that Riley’s opponents in prior fights “came to lose.”
“I can stop him from doing it. There will be games and enjoyment. It’s both his and my toughest test to date,” Taj remarked.
“Someone showed up having lost [his prior fights].” I’m not showing up for the paper; I’m not coming to lose. I can see what you can do on February 11 and you can see what I can do.
“I’ll finish you in six. I’m not here for the money, and I’m not here to lose. I’m willing to battle you if you want a fair fight. I have no financial worries.”
Taj isn’t Riley’s hardest opponent, Riley retorted in his usual furious manner.
“I adore it; he has good intentions and a plan in place that he believes he can execute. I fail to see it.
Riley, who is unbeaten in seven fights, said: “If I don’t knock him out in round one, there are additional rounds for the punishment to continue.”
“I don’t believe my toughness is being challenged at this point in my career. My ability is too advanced to be put to the test.
“I know he’s coming with intent, so he’s probably in the top three [of my opponents], maybe even top two. The mindset is powerful.
“I am aware that he had time to plan. Of my former opponents, he has received the most attention.”
