Boxing News: By the age of 28, Viddal Riley hopes to hold the title of world champion, but the cruiserweight is content to follow the tried-and-true route to the top.
Riley has been training for his fourth fight of the year, against Ross McGuigan, which will take place on November 12 in Manchester, on the undercard of Natasha Jonas vs. Marie Eve Dicare for the unification title. Riley has been out of the ring for nearly two years.
Riley believes he is on course to accomplish that goal after his devastating first-round stoppage of Jone Volau in June, which brought Riley’s record to 6-0 (3). He is aware that there is no shortcut to the top, though.
“I feel like I’m on my way to doing that and I still have time to do that, but we are aware of the nature of the game and we take things as they come,” says Riley.
I am aware that you cannot cheat in this game. The staff and I are both aware that there are requirements you must meet.
“So, we proceed in that direction and advance one step at a time toward the end goal, which is to finally become world champion.”
Riley, who has previously worked as KSI’s boxing coach on YouTube, is determined not to let anything prevent him from attaining his long-term goals of winning the world title, though.
Riley remarked that it was an honour to be considered important enough to be mentioned. Many people are desperate to be mentioned and would even do stupid things to do so.
“I’m blessed, aren’t I, that I just live, breathe, and do what I’m doing, and people want to talk about me.
I have to complete specific objectives in the game because I was told I could do them right away.
You can’t say it’s not about money since no one gets smacked in the face for free, but there is something deeper than that. It means more to me than money.
