Fury vs Joshua: According to Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua “didn’t want” to compete for the heavyweight championship, and he plans to “smash” Derek Chisora if the two meet again in December.
The much-anticipated fight between Fury and Joshua, the former WBA, IBF, and WBO champion, was called off earlier this week due to a breakdown in communication between the two camps.
Chisora is one of the contenders to face Fury once more, with a December fight set to be announced next week. Derek Chisora previously faced the WBC champion at ringside and suffered two losses to him earlier in his career.
Fury said to iD Boxing why his bout with Joshua fell through: “He didn’t want the fight, didn’t press it, and didn’t sign the contract.
“Lack of b***s and lack of assertiveness from AJ, in my opinion—and this is being brutally honest—are both deficiencies.
“If you’re a male, you lead your team with assertiveness and see that it gets done.”
On December 3, Fury committed to fighting once again and stated that he hopes to complete a trilogy with Chisora.
The 38-year-previous old’s attempt to win the WBC championship against Vitali Klitschko in 2012 was unsuccessful.
I hope it’s him, given his recent shenanigans, said Fury. If he signs a contract, I’ll regrettably have to savagely snap his teeth in. We’ll see.
“We’ll reveal our opponent the following week. There are four or five men in the hat—two southpaws and two orthodox—so we’ll choose one of them after sending out a few contracts to various candidates.
“We want a fun, enjoyable evening. I have a battle in December that I won’t be putting off, and who knows? After that, I might retire once more.
