Fury vs Joshua: Because they would generate “excellent business” together, Anthony Joshua claims he is convinced a British heavyweight fight between him and his “dancing partner,” Tyson Fury, will take place.
WBC champion Fury and former champion Joshua had been planning to meet in December, but negotiations fell through before Fury agreed to face Derek Chisora a third time.
After accepting the Chisora fight, Fury claimed that Joshua had lost the opportunity for a super fight between the two and vowed that “we will never fight.”
Joshua doesn’t seem to be persuaded by Fury’s arguments, despite hearing many of his pronouncements over social media in previous years.
Anthony Joshua said to Dazn, “I was meant to be in the ring on December 3.” “That was the scheduled date, but obviously it’s not going to happen.
“I have a fantastic team. I enjoy conducting business and I think that excellent contracts and decent business practices are important. However, I have a strong team, so I simply have to delegate some tasks to them.
It takes a lot of time to communicate back and forth on social media with all the other stuff. Like anything else, social media has its positives and negatives, so it’s not annoying, but you still have to participate.
“I think we’d do well behind the scenes, and my dancing partner [Fury], the last old geezer I was supposed to fight, is a terrific dance partner. He handles the social media side of things.
“It will take place.”
Joshua also asserted that he does not take Fury’s occasionally critical social media posts personally and that their various methods of promotion are simply a reflection of their respective cultural traditions.
Although from my culture we don’t really deal with stuff like that, we’re a bit more low key and just go about our business, Joshua remarked, “It’s nothing personal.
“What I strive to do is sell myself with these incredible brands that I’ve been working with and have the honour of representing.
“I feel like I speak for a lot of the brands I represent already, so I don’t think I need to yell at the top of my lungs.
“I feel as though I’m out there, but I don’t only disparage people in my profession; I also need to give credit to and respect my industry. That is how I handle situations: by introducing some level of class to the business.
