Paul vs Fury: After losing to Tommy Fury in a split decision on Sunday, Jake Paul will force a rematch.
In an eight-round fight in Saudi Arabia, Paul faced Fury. Although it ended up being Paul’s first professional boxing defeat, it was also the first time he had fought someone with prior experience in the sport.
The former YouTube celebrity turned prizefighter defeated mixed martial artists during his boxing career, including Anderson Silva, a 47-year-old UFC superstar. Yet, he was facing Fury for the first time, an unbeaten boxing prospect.
Paul occasionally struggled, whereas Fury displayed more variation. Fury launched his punches first and moved with greater assurance. Paul occasionally appeared exposed as a result, making him open to legal challenges.
Yet, the “Problem Child” did experience a few happy moments. He clipped Fury with his left, using that lead as a hook to grab him when he threw it straight, and jolting Fury as a result.
Jake Paul took some excellent shots; he’s a far better boxer than I thought he was, even Fury said of his opponent.
When Fury moved forward in the final round, Paul caught him with a left hook that dropped him to the ground. This was Paul’s moment of brilliance.
Fury recovered from not being really damaged and gave the bout a solid ending.
But it will give Paul reason for optimism and a few assets to build on.
He has stated categorically that he will demand a rematch. Paul plans to use his right to a second chance.
Paul answered, “We can run it back. I believe we merit a rematch.”
He went on: “With all due respect, Tommy won. Judge me by my losses, not by my victories.”
Paul claimed that because of issues in training camp, he was “flat” throughout the bout.
“I was exhausted since I had two pretty terrible bouts of camp sickness and had hurt my arm. My performance wasn’t the best, but that’s no reason to apologise,” he said.
The thought of a rematch was embraced by Fury.
“It’s my first major competition. Bring it on if he wants a rematch,” rage said.
Paul undoubtedly did not indicate that he would give up on his boxing endeavour.
Paul admitted that the experience had been “humbling,” but he also acknowledged that he had come “far beyond where I ever dreamed I would.”
Paul looks unfazed and wants to test how much farther he can still go.
