AFG vs PAK: In place of Babar Azam, Shadab Khan will captain Pakistan in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan that gets underway on March 24.
In the 15-person team, four uncapped players have been able to secure a spot. In recognition of their outstanding performances in the current Pakistan Super League, Ihsanullah (Multan Sultans), Saim Ayub (Peshawar Zalmi), Tayyab Tahir (Karachi Kings), and Zaman Khan (Lahore Qalandars) have been given the chance to experience international competition.
The roster also includes uncapped players and welcomes back Abdullah Shafique, Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Imad Wasim. All of these players were recalled to the team since they have all performed admirably for their respective teams in the ongoing Pakistan T20 spectacular.
The selection committee, led by Haroon Rasheed, has in the meantime given players like Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi a break in order to manage their workload in light of the upcoming series.
In the first ten games of the season, Saim Ayub has scored 309 runs and, along with captain Babar, has been a key member of Peshawar Zalmi. For the Karachi Kings this season, Tayyab Tahir has 65 runs in five games at a strike rate of 144.21.
Pacer Zaman Khan, who has featured in 10 games and taken 12 wickets at an average of 22.08, has played a significant role in Lahore’s success this season. In the current season, he has bowled with an economy rate of 8.68.
Ihsanullah of the Multan Sultans, on the other hand, has been the most effective bowler this season with 20 wickets in ten innings at a staggering average of 14.60 and an impressive economy rate of 7.36, especially in light of the fact that most bowlers have had trouble containing the batters this year.
