Cricket News: The fitness of Indian pacers has once again come to the forefront of conversation in Indian cricket as a result of Jasprit Bumrah missing the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup earlier in the year.
Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshal Patel were all recently added to the list of injured players, therefore the team management was unable to assess their complete strength before the major competition.
The National Cricket Academy (NCA) was criticised by former India international Saba Karim for failing to keep the pacers in game-ready condition. The problem has been brought up often as a result of India’s lack of significant ICC tournament victories in almost ten years.
Karim called attention to the situation and emphasised the necessity of keeping track of all international athletes in the modern day. He requested that the Indian management take into account the management of the bowlers’ workload and provide them with adequate relaxation so that they can stay in shape for a significant competition.
“As far as I know, the NCA’s responsibility is to shortlist a group of 10–12 fast bowlers while meeting with the team management and selectors. They must direct the fast bowlers and keep track of their physical condition.
In order for the players to be available whenever the team needs them, it is also important to manage the workload of the bowlers. It’s hard to pinpoint why it’s not happening, the 55-year-old told Sportskeeda.
Unquestionably, we have young pacers with rapid bowling: Karim
Karim further emphasised that there is currently no talent scarcity in Indian cricket. He thinks that the domestic circuit has enough talent to take over even if the senior cricketers are ruled out for a series or tournament.
“We have young pacers who can bowl quickly, without a doubt. You’ll get 4-5 names from me. Kuldeep Sen, who was chosen for Bangladesh, is a 140 kph bowler. Avesh Khan and Shivam Mavi, who plays for UP, are also present. In domestic cricket, I have seen him hit 140. During the Australia trip, Kartik Tyagi made a strong impression as a net bowler. In the IPL, Khaleel Ahmed has also bowled exceptionally effectively, according to Karim.
