IND vs BAN 2022: The hosts Bangladesh and team India will square off in a two-match Test series following Bangladesh’s victory in the ODI series against team India. Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, is reportedly dealing with a stiff back before the red-ball match in Chattogram.
The Bangla Tigers captain was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning for a checkup on the eve of the Test series. “It’s not a big deal. He was transported by ambulance because there was no other option. He went in for a checkup because of some stiffness, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told The Daily Star.
The examination was performed to determine if he had any back muscular issues. The medical staff has given the ace all-rounder the all-clear to compete, so there doesn’t seem to be any concern about a serious injury.
This occurs after the captain was struck on his back by a delivery from Umran Malik during the recently finished ODI series. The management made the decision to analyse the situation by having X-ray scans to ascertain Shakib’s condition when he was experiencing pain throughout the practice sessions. Notably, he practised little throughout the online sessions to avoid aggravating the back problem.
Unlike India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who sustained a thumb injury during the second ODI encounter, Shakib has been given the all-clear to play the red-ball match. In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul has been appointed as the team’s captain, and seasoned batter Cheteshwar Pujara has been added to the team as Rahul’s deputy.
India will try to win the two Test matches against the Bangla Tigers since they are still in the running for a berth in the championship match of the ICC World Test Championship in 2022–2023.
