IPL 2023: Pat Cummins explained his decision to forego the IPL 2023 by citing the busy international schedule.
Australia’s Test and ODI team captain Pat Cummins has decided not to participate in the IPL 2023. The renowned all-arounder posted his decision on Tuesday. Cummins attributed his decision to skip the Indian T20 championship to the congested international calendar. The sportsman also thanked his IPL club, Kolkata Knight Riders, for supporting his decision. Cummins made his announcement on November 15, which was also the deadline for all 10 IPL clubs to submit their lists of retained and released players.
“In the upcoming season, I’ve made the decision to forgo the IPL. The international schedule is full with Tests and ODIs over the future 12 months, so will take a break before an Ashes series and World Cup “According to Cummins’ tweets.
“Many thanks to @KKRiders for their patience. Such a great group of players and staff, and I hope to return there soon, “Added he.
The list of players who have been retained, transferred, or released must be turned in by Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Cummins recently competed for Australia in the T20 World Cup. The team was unable to make it to the semifinals of the contest.
Early this year, Cummins was named Australia’s captain as a result of Aaron Finch’s ODI format retirement.
Australia won a significant Test series against Pakistan under Cummins’ direction earlier this year.
