Live Cricket News: India retained the prized Border-Gavaskar Trophy after defeating Australia 2-1 in the series following the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s final match in Ahmedabad. Both teams will now face off against one another for a three-match One-Day International series starting on March 17, following the conclusion of the Test series.
But when the series gets underway, India will be without the services of captain Rohit Sharma, who will miss the opening One-Day International against Australia owing to family obligations. In his place, Hardik Pandya will captain the home team in the opening game.
Even though Rohit won’t be playing in the opening ODI, former India bowler Ajit Agarkar nonetheless praised the star batter’s accomplishments. Agarkar stated that he had no worries that Rohit would continue to display his batting brilliance if he joined the team for the remaining ODIs.

On the Star Sports programme “Game Plan,” Agarkar did not hold back when praising Rohit for his leadership. He also believed that Rohit’s ability to score a century against Australia in the first Test was directly related to his ability to take his time and not try to attack immediately away.
“His track record is self-evident. About Rohit’s performance in white ball cricket, you are not required to make any comments. He has occasionally adopted a slightly different strategy, attempting to be the aggressor at the top of the chain. Perhaps he made a slight adjustment in the most recent series, giving himself a little more breathing room, and achieved the hundred. I just hope he participates in every one-day match that India plays going forward, as you want your captain to simply have a style of play,” Agarkar continued.
“He can’t make the first one because of personal obligations. You won’t have enough one-days after that to make your arrangements. Despite how physically taxing it can be for the captain, you want Rohit to play; you don’t want him to miss any games. I do not think there are any concerns with his batting,” he said.
