PSL 2023: Following Martin Guptill’s dismissal in game 25 of the Pakistan Super League on March 8, Pakistan’s fast bowler Wahab Riaz was seen kissing his helmet. Riaz took the first wicket for Peshawar Zalmi in their encounter against Quetta Gladiators at the Pindi Club Stadium in Rawalpindi when they were defending 240.
The quick bowler threw down a brief delivery, and Guptill attempted to pull it but was only able to top edge it, sending the ball far into the night sky. To complete a caught and bowled dismissal, Riaz got beneath it and collected a straightforward catch.
The Pakistani speedster kissed Guptill’s helmet as he returned to the pavilion after successfully securing the ball in his hands. The pair could also be seen joking around as the Gladiators’ starting pitcher made his way to the bench. Fans on social media praised the two of them for their friendship.

Resuming the game, the Zalmi hitters came out clearly intending to stymie the Gladiator’s bowling attack after deciding to bat first. They began the innings by scoring at a quick clip of 12 runs per over, led by skipper Babar Azam. In the end, they scored a staggering total of 240/2 in the allocated 20 overs thanks to Babar’s brilliant 115 off 65 balls. Rovman Powell and Saim Ayub (74 off 34) provided strong support for him (35 off 18).
Jason Roy debuts with full force
In response, Gladiators didn’t let the enormous total on the board deter them and sprang to life, scoring 41 runs off just 2.5 overs. Following Guptill’s departure for 21 off 8 balls, Roy advanced the innings and probably produced one of the best knocks in T20 cricket history.
In the end, he hit 20 fours and five sixes during his innings to score 145* off just 63 balls. Mohammad Hafeez (41* off 18) provided Roy with crucial assistance as the Gladiators successfully chased down the goal in 18.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.
