Tendulkar’s Style: Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif claimed that Shubman Gill’s flashy batting style is comparable to that of great player Sachin Tendulkar. The cricketing community and fans have heaped praise on Gill, who is enjoying a spectacular season with the bat in 2023.
Notably, the Gujarat Titans batsman was at his most dangerous in the IPL 2023, scoring 890 runs in 17 outings while adding four half-centuries and three tonnes to his total. In addition, he scored double hundreds in ODIs versus New Zealand in a single year (2023) and hundreds in all three forms against Australia and South Africa.
Virat Kohli has drawn a lot of attention for his excellent batting performances, and many fans and players in the cricket community have started to compare him to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Mohammad Kaif, a former cricketer for India, voiced his opinion on the matter and stated that Gill’s batting prowess is more like to Tendulkar’s than Kohli’s.
“I believe (Sachin) Tendulkar and Shubman Gill have similar playing styles. At this stage, it is exceedingly challenging to free him. There doesn’t appear to be a flaw in his play. Sachin and Virat (Kohli) are both legends. I have experience with both, but Kohli has flaws. When it comes to technique and mental toughness, Gill is on the route to being as great as Sachin, according to Kaif,” who spoke to Sportskeeda.
Kaif continued by comparing the playing styles of Tendulkar and Kohli, referencing the latter’s disastrous tour to England in 2014. Kaif said that throughout the campaign, Kohli struggled to respond to England’s James Anderson’s devastating deliveries because he was unable to find a solution.
“Sachin was a very disciplined hitter as well. If I contrast Virat with Sachin, the latter still has certain flaws. He travelled to England in 2014 out of shape. Outside the off stump, James Anderson constantly bothered him, and he had no solutions. In that series, he was a complete failure,” said Kaif.
