WPL 2023: After securing Australian great Rachael Haynes as the head coach for the first Women’s Premier League, Gujarat Giants have added yet another well-known player. In the days since the renowned Mithali Raj joined as a mentor and counsellor, this is the second signing of this stature.
Rachael Haynes withdrew from all forms of the sport in September of last year after more than ten years of service to the national team and six World Championships with Australia. The coaching group, which includes former Indian spinner Nooshin Al Khadeer as the bowling coach, Tushar Arothe as the batting coach, and Gavan Twining as the fielding coach, will benefit from her expertise at the highest level.
“Players like Rachael Haynes, Nooshin Al Khadeer, Tushar Arothe, and Gavan Twining will undoubtedly boost the team’s performance. They have not only distinguished themselves in their positions, but the team will find inspiration in their tales of tenacity.
In an official statement, Mithali stated “Their combined strengths would enable Adani Sportsline’s Gujarat Giants to produce their finest performance on the field at the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, which will encourage numerous aspiring female athletes.”

The seasoned Australian player acknowledged her delight about taking part in the historic competition and shared her anticipation for working with longtime opponent Mithali Raj in the Gujarat Giants’ camp.
