WTC Final: With 209 in his account, Rahul Dravid holds the record for the most catches made as a fielder in a Test match.
Ajinkya Rahane, a seasoned cricketer from India, made his 100th Test catch at The Oval in London during the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021–23 final, which saw him dismiss Australia captain Pat Cummins. With this, the Australians ended Day 2’s first innings with a total of 469 runs.
Notably, Mohammed Siraj delivered the decisive blows to halt Australia’s outstanding performance in the shape of Nathan Lyon and Cummins. When Cummins holed out to Rahane at extra cover, Siraj bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside-off on the third ball of the 122nd over.
Rahane collected his 100th catch throughout the process, achieving a remarkable record in the longest format. With 209 catches to his credit, former India captain Rahul Dravid holds the record for most catches made by a fielder in a Test match.
Notably, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur both took two wickets while bowler Siraj returned a four-wicket haul for 108 runs in 28.3 overs. With regard to the Australians, flashy southpaw Travis Head led the team in scoring with an outstanding 163 off 174, which included 25 boundaries and one maximum.
