Al-Nassr new signing Cristiano Ronaldo is proud to work at his new club. According to the Portuguese, there is no question of a lucrative flight from Europe.
Al-Nassr presented Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday. The attacker is not concerned about all the stories about his much-discussed transfer. “I don’t care what others say about my move to Saudi Arabia. I’m happy to be here,” he said at the press conference. “People don’t know the level here.”
The Portuguese rejected the suggestion that he chose Al-Nassr due to a lack of options in Europe. He remarked, “My work in Europe is finished. I’ve played for the best clubs in the world and I’ve won everything. I am happy and proud of Al-Nassr. I can say that there were many opportunities for me in Europe, Brazil, Australia, the United States and even in Portugal. But I gave my word to this club, Al-Nassr.”
The much-discussed commitment is self-evident for Ronaldo, “This contract is unique because I am a unique player. It’s normal for me.”
Trainer Rudi Garcia is happy with Ronaldo, “He is an example. My goal is to make him happy here. I want him to have fun playing for Al-Nassr and winning with Al-Nassr. He is one of the best players of all time. It is an honor for me and Al-Nassr to welcome him here.”
Ronaldo’s chance of returning to the UCL
In related news, Ronaldo will have to keep his fingers crossed for good results from Newcastle United. Marca knows that since signing his contract in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo has an option to move to Newcastle on loan, provided the club reach Champions League football. The Premier League club is of course also owned by an Arab concern, so the link was quickly made.
In terms of appearances (183) and goals (140), Ronaldo is the record holder of the Champions League and before signing with Al-Nassr, the Portuguese was repeatedly offered by his agent to clubs that are still active in the billion-dollar ball.
Newcastle are currently in third place in the Premier League and that would be enough for a place in the Champions League at the end of the season. However, the differences in the top of England are small.
