In recent weeks, various stories have loomed that Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo had already seen it in Saudi Arabia. The Portuguese world star would be unhappy and want to return to Europe. The protagonist himself has now debunked that.
Ronaldo creates clarity about future at Al-Nassr
The Al-Nassr attacker does have some comments. “I think the competition is very strong,” he told the official channels of the Saudi Football Association. “There are still many opportunities to grow. I think the league is competitive, with a lot of strong teams and good players. Arab players also reach a high level. But there is enough to improve.”
Ronaldo says he is annoyed by the time that matches are stopped due to arbitrary decisions. “The referees, the VAR system. It can all be a bit faster. Those are two things that need to be improved. But I’m happy here,” Ronaldo revealed.
The Portuguese wants to remain the flagship of Saudi football. “I also want to stay here,” Ronaldo suppresses all rumors about his person. “So I will stay here. I think this league should continue to grow like this for the next five seasons. Then I think the Saudi league can join the top five leagues in the world.”
Incidentally, Ronaldo grabbed the runners up medal in the Saudi national title in his debut season. Al-Ittihad FC was too strong for Al-Nassr.
Beckham fires friend Neville: “Sometimes we have to make the toughest decisions”
Speaking of former Manchester United players, David Beckham has fired his former teammate and friend Phil Neville from Inter Miami. The 46-year-old Englishman was fired due to disappointing results.
Neville was at the helm of Inter Miami for two years, but Beckham had to make the ‘difficult decision’ to sack him. The last four games were lost for the Major League Soccer club. On Thursday things went wrong against New York Red Bulls. Then Neville got the bad news. Beckham and Neville are close friends and played together at Manchester United.
“Sometimes we have to make the toughest decisions and unfortunately we feel the time is right to make a change. I want to thank Phil for his hard work, his passion for our club and his integrity as a person,” said co-owner Beckham through the club channels. “This was a difficult decision, but we think it’s the best for the club.”
Inter Miami is in last place in Major League Soccer after fifteen games. The club only took five wins.
