If it is up to Brazil and City’s Ederson Moraes, Carlo Ancelotti will fly out of Real Madrid after a diptych with Manchester City.
Ederson: “Beating Real Madrid to bring Ancelotti to Brazil”
The goalkeeper for Man City – possibly Real Madrid’s opponent in the semi-finals – and Brazil has made no effort to hide the fact that he is keen to see Ancelotti become his country’s new manager. “I talked about it with Casemiro, Vinícius Júnior and Militão. There’s a possibility he’s coming,” Ederson said at a news conference Tuesday night.
The Brazilian federation recently denied that there was a deal with the 63-year-old Italian. Ancelotti still has a contract in Madrid until the end of next season. Ederson doesn’t shy away from that. The closing post said he and his teammates see Ancelotti as “an exceptional coach, everyone in his squad loves him.” In the semi-finals of the Champions League, Ederson hopes to eliminate Real Madrid with Manchester City to have him available as soon as possible.
“Just look at his resume,” Ederson, 29, continued. “We’ll soon know if he’ll be here or not. I hope we have a new coach soon. There is now too much speculation. Will it be a Brazilian or a foreigner? In that respect it is an exciting phase.”
Under-20 coach Ramon Menezes is currently doing the honors at De Divine Kanaries. He succeeded Tite, who retired after the failed World Cup in Qatar. Brazil will play an exhibition match in and against Morocco on Saturday evening.
Foden is amazed with Haaland: “For us it took a bit of getting used to”
Sticking with the Citizens, Phil Foden looks on with great admiration at the performance of his Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland. The England international is hugely impressed by the Norwegian attacker’s goal drive.
Haaland has 42 goals after 37 official games for City and strings together the records in the shirt of The Citizens. In the week before the international match, the striker scored eight times in two appearances. “It’s a privilege to play with Erling,” Foden told TalkSPORT. “I don’t always know how he does it. Something in his brain ensures that he is always in the right place.”
“When we play with Erling, it gives the team a huge boost. Even in games where it is 0-0 for a long time and there are few chances, you can trust him to score,” said the England international. Haaland withdrew from the Norwegian national team for the upcoming international matches on Tuesday with a groin injury.
The arrival of Haaland has had a lot of influence on City, says Foden: “He made us play in a different way. In previous seasons we didn’t have a striker like him. It also took some getting used to for us. But Erling will only help us further in the coming time. His presence also makes it easier for me to play football.”
