Brazil was a unit during the World Cup. Neymar dismisses the suggestion of division by sharing personal chats.
Neymar was the man to take the fifth Brazilian penalty kick in the penalty series against Croatia. Due to the misses of Rodrygo and Marquinhos, the quarter-final was already settled before the PSG attacker had to take a seat behind the ball.
There is no question of an alleged mutual resentment. Especially considering the fact that Brazilians stars in large for years are known for extravagance and self centred images. Additionally, their dancing in the tournament was also subject to criticism. However, Neymar argues via Instagram. The attacker also provides evidence to make his point. “The decision to make these personal chats public (without their consent) was made to show how much we wanted it and how big the unit was.”
Marquinhos, his PSG teammate who sealed Brazil’s fate with his missed penalty, received emotional support from Neymar. We must be strong, take our time and see what football will bring us.
Neymar doesn’t blame Rodrygo either. Instead of a reproach, there is warm support for his younger compatriot, as the PSG attacker proves by sharing his personal chat. “I’m here to say you’re a star. It is an honour to be a part of your career, to hear from you that I am your idol and to see you become one of the stars of Brazilian football.”
Learn from it, argues Neymar. “I’ve missed a lot of penalties in my career and I’ve learned from all my misses. I never gave up, I always looked for improvement and perfection. Hold on. This criticism and this pressure will make you better and you will remember what I told you. You will bring another prize to Brazil. Sorry for delaying your dream. We are always together and thank you for your love.”
