Enjoying a fantastic 2021-22 English Premier League campaign, David Moyes is aiming for West Ham to finish in the top-four. The West Ham United boss has claimed the team is ambitious enough to fight for a Premier League top spot.
West Ham United beat aces Liverpool, who were at third place before the match, in a 3-2 victory over Liverpool.
Furthermore, this match on Sunday (here’s the football news on it) not only ended the Reds’ 20-game unbeaten streak but also saw the Hammer topple them from third place on the charts.
After securing 23 points in 11 games, West Ham are now 3rd in the league standings, overtaking Liverpool. Moreover, West Ham have also replaced the 2019-20 champions in equaling the 2020-21 ones, Manchester City, at third place.
David Moyes Is Aiming for West Ham to Finish in the Top-four
And now, West Ham’s head coach David Moyes has more confidently expressed his goal to finish in the first four.
“It’s been hard to beat Liverpool over my career, they’ve always been a good side, so I was very pleased to get it today,” Moyes told BBC after the match at home, London Stadium.
“We didn’t play well in the first half. Sometimes when you play on Sunday having played on a Thursday night, you don’t start well.
“We weren’t as good as we should have been and they were very good. We changed the things around at half time.
“This result shows that we’re really in with a good chance of challenging for the top places.
“I’m hugely proud. The way the players have gone about it, you talk about me turning it around, these players were close to relegation – now we are pushing for Europe.”
