Fiorentina 1-2 Inter Milan: Internazionale won the Coppa Italia two and a half weeks before the Champions League final against Manchester City. In the Italian cup final, Fiorentina won on Wednesday evening. Lautaro Martínez was the celebrated man for the blue-blacks with two goals.
CL finalist Inter have already won a final in their own country thanks to Lautaro
Martínez is having his best season so far at Inter and got up on Wednesday evening when his team needed him. Inter, which took office with Denzel Dumfries in the starting line-up and had Stefan de Vrij on the bench, started the final in Rome badly and was already 1-0 behind after three minutes. Nicolás González helped Fiorentina into the lead with a ticker at the far post.
Inter did not panic and turned the tables before the break. Thanks to Martínez, who accounted for both goals for his team. His first goal, after a wonderful pass from Marcelo Brozovic, marked his hundredth in Milan’s service. Just under ten minutes before the break, Martínez made it 1-2 with a nice volley.
In the second half, Fiorentina tried to get back into the game, but without success. Inter successfully defended its margin with De Vrij as a substitute (’59) and thus extended its title: after all, Simone Inzaghi’s team also won the Coppa Italia last year. Inter now plays two more league games, against Atalanta Bergamo and Torino, before competing with Manchester City for the Champions League on June 10.
Fiorentina will also play a final this season. On Wednesday 7 June, La Viola will face West Ham United in Prague. In the last game of this season in the Conference League.
