Football news: Crystal Palace welcomed Manchester City to Selhurst Park last night in a league fixture. Neither team failed to find the back of the net in the fixture and settled for a 0-0 draw. However, as expected witnessed the visitors dominate position, while their opponents were happy to sit back for the point.
Apart from several attempts from out of the box, City failed to produce any threat for the home defense in the first half. After half time, the citizens did create good chances but were unable to get on the score sheet.
Following the result, the hosts took a huge point while their opponents lost ground in the intense title race.
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City: Managers reactions
Crystal Palace’s Patrick Vieira: “I think those three teams are [among] the best four, five teams in Europe. You’re looking at the number of players they have in the squad, how they play. They make the game look really easy. It will be a really exciting end of the season for the title.”
“When you play against City you have to concede chances. It’s all about having your luck on the day but also putting in a shift as a team. We did that today.
“We fought for the luck and we got a point. We’re happy with the performance. We had some chances. It was that kind of feeling you can score one and win the game 1-0. I’m happy with a draw.”
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola: “We play a really good game. In 90 minutes we concede mistakes a little bit, but the way we played was really good.”
“Luck doesn’t exist in football. We have to score goals and we didn’t do it and played to score goals and concede few. We struggled a little bit. The guys who were playing were playing good, that’s why I didn’t make changes. We didn’t score, that was the mistake.”
“The team that was there today was there before and will be there in the next game. I am very pleased with the performance and the way we played.”
