Rio Ferdinand has responded to the battle that is about to erupt over the future of Jude Bellingham. The analyst knows which choice the wanted midfielder has to make.
According to various British media, both Liverpool and Manchester United want to snatch Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. The versatile midfielder has the clubs to choose, but the two British superpowers seem to have the best credentials. Ferdinand decided to give his advice to the BBC. “If you put the two clubs on a graph, Manchester United is going up, while Liverpool’s growth has stagnated,” he commented.
Bellingham is one of the most coveted midfielders in international football. If Ferdinand had been asked the question, it would have been obvious. “If I were the player and I was asked: Liverpool or Manchester United? Then I knew where I was going. Even without my history as a player, I would go to United next summer,” the former defender added.
Ferdinand was a feared defender at Old Trafford for years and sees that the club is slowly growing back to its glory years. Certainly unlike Liverpool. He concludes, “The way the team looks now, the way the team is shaping up now, the way the managers are running the team… I think it’s clear which of the two will be more successful in the near future. I would really be on United’s side.”
Ruud Gullit compares Weghorst’s performance with Olivier Giroud
Ruud Gullit has praised Wout Weghorst’s performance in England. The analyst sees the attacker of Manchester United claim an important role and compares the striker of the Dutch national team with Olivier Giroud.
“Deep respect,” the guests at the table of the Football Café of Ziggo Sport responded to Weghorst’s game. Last week, the attacker conquered the League Cup, while he was important midweek in the victory over West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Weghorst had a big part in the comeback of The Red Devils.
Gullit enjoyed the way Weghorst ran at Old Trafford. He remarked, “If you saw that last part of that match… Then Wout was quite busy. He was trolling and rowing. And that third hit came from him. He makes sure he can be annoying for a while.”
“France became world champion with Giroud,” Gullit compared Weghorst to another striker. “In 2018, the Frenchman was in the starting eleven of the world champion, but did not score a single goal at the World Cup. That while the production of Weghorst also leaves much to be desired. ‘Giroud always played, because that’s how others scored. He also dragged like that. They are players who give everything for a team and ignore themselves.”
“If there is one that ignores it, it is Weghorst,” Gullit concluded. “The attacker is slowly winning over everyone in England,” the former striker saw. “Critics in England are also mixed, but everyone is starting to see the value for the team. You notice that.”
