João Félix will return to Atlético Madrid after this season. The Portuguese would have loved to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge himself, but new manager Mauricio Pochettino makes a different choice.
Pochettino allows disappointed Félix to return to Atlético
Félix himself wanted to stay, but has received less good news from Pochettino, who was officially appointed by Chelsea on Monday. “We don’t know for very long, but the new Chelsea manager doesn’t appeal to João. That’s what we were told. So he will come back and then we will see what happens,” said Atlético president Enrique Cereza in Spanish media.
Félix came to Atlético for around 120 million euros, but had difficulty catching up with Los Rojiblancos. He was mainly used as a substitute in Madrid. Félix was loaned out to Chelsea, for which he played sixteen Premier League games, five of them as a substitute. Félix is still with Atlético until the summer of 2027.
Xavi is counting on being at the helm as head coach of Barcelona for the coming season. The champion maker is close to signing a new contract.
Xavi about new contract: “I am ninety percent sure”
Xavi is still stuck in Camp Nou until the summer of 2024, but there is a good chance that Barcelona will add a few years to that. “My wish is to have a long career here, but it’s about results and you will be the first next season to demand that I win the league again, fight for the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the Super Cup,” says Xavi at a press conference.
White smoke is not yet in sight, but according to Xavi it will come soon: “he will extend his contract with Barcelona, that much is clear. There are no problems, we are very close to (an agreement). I can tell you with ninety percent certainty that it will happen soon.”
Barcelona finished in first place in La Liga this season. In the Champions League it was already over in the group stage. And in the knockout phase of the Europa League Manchester United was too strong.
