Lucas Hernández move to PSG is already being rejected by ultras. If it comes to a transfer, the Bayern Munich defender does not seem to have to count on a warm welcome.
Ultra’s PSG warn Hernández: “You are not welcome here”
Bayern took over Hernández from Atlético Madrid four years ago for eighty million euros. The French defender is reportedly facing a return to his homeland. According to RMC Sport, among others, PSG wants to take over the 27-year-old stopper. That is against the sore leg of supporters group Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP), which has announced through chairman Romain Mabille that it is against the transfer.
That has everything to do with the origin of Hernández, who was born in Marseille. That does not go down well with the rank and file. Theo, Lucas’s brother, is also linked to PSG. “You are not welcome here, the Marseillais. We will let you know,” Mabille writes on Instagram, including a screenshot about the news that the negotiations are in the final phase.
In the footsteps of Messi
PSG supporters repeatedly expressed their sentiment around Lionel Messi last season. The Argentinian world champion was accused of not being committed enough to the French national champion and has been consistently treated to a flute concert in recent weeks. Will that ‘honour’ soon also be awarded to Hernández?
Toulouse board members resign with a view to the European dream
Staying in France, three members of Toulouse’s governing council have resigned to avoid problems with UEFA. The French club qualified for the next edition of the Europa League, but because the club has the same owner as AC Milan, participation in the European tournament is not a matter of course.
Toulouse is part of the American investment fund RedBird, which also owns AC Milan. Because the Italian top club will play in the Champions League, UEFA regulations basically say that there is no place for Toulouse. After all, there could be a conflict of interest. To this day, Toulouse has not received confirmation of its European participation.
Earlier, RedBird owner Gerry Cardinale already left Toulouse. And in his wake Alec Scheiner, Isaac Halyard and Niraj Shah also left the board of directors. They are also affiliated with RedBird. But by leaving they hope that UEFA will agree with Toulouse’s admission to the Europa League.
Toulouse finished thirteenth in Ligue 1 this season and qualified for the Europa League by winning the Coupe de France with players such as Branco van den Boomen, Stijn Spierings, Thijs Dallinga and Zakaria Aboukhlal. It has been fourteen years since Toulouse last came out in Europe. Van den Boomen (Ajax) and Spierings (RC Lens) have since left.
