Lucas Hernández was presented on Sunday as the fifth summer acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain. The defender was reportedly taken over from Bayern Munich for fifty million euros. It is expected that Bayern will soon present Min-jae Kim from Napoli as his successor.
PSG does not listen to the ultras and strengthens defense with record purchase Bayern
The transfer from Hernández to PSG has been in the air for a while and was therefore made official on Sunday. The 33-time French international has signed a five-year contract. It is the first time that Marseille-born Hernández will play in his home country.
The ultras of PSG will not be too happy with this transfer: The 27-year-old Hernández started his career in Spain and made the switch from Atlético Madrid to Bayern in 2019. With a transfer fee of eighty million euros, he is still the record purchase of Der Rekordmeister. Bayern now accepts a significant loss, but can take over Kim from Napoli for the same amount as Hernández is sold for.
Hernández only played eleven games for Bayern last season, which was mainly due to injuries. The defender missed the entire second half of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury. In total, Hernández came to 107 duels for Bayern in four years.
PSG previously signed Manuel Ugarte (Sporting Portugal), Kang-in Lee (Real Mallorca), Marco Asensio (Real Madrid) and Milan Skriniar (Internazionale). No transfer fee had to be paid for the last two players. Luis Enrique has been roped in as the new head coach.
Sergio Rico makes himself heard for the first time since a serious accident
Sergio Rico (29) has made himself heard for the first time since his accident with a horse. On Instagram, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper spoke reassuring words.
Rico was hospitalized after suffering serious injuries when he was hit by a horse during a pilgrimage. The PSG reserve goalkeeper was kept in an artificial coma for nineteen days and the concerns for his health were great. Earlier this week, Rico was allowed to leave intensive care.
In a story on Instagram, Rico says he will continue to work hard on his rehabilitation. He posted, “Every day I take steps. I’m very lucky. I would like to thank all the people who supported me during these difficult days. Thanks again everyone and hope to see you soon.”
It is not yet known what the future of Rico looks like. The goalkeeper still has a one-year contract with PSG. In the Parc des Princes, the Spanish closing post had to give way to first choice Gianluigi Donnarumma.
