Manchester United forward Antony is happy and relieved after his important goal in the FA Cup win over Everton. The 22-year-old Brazilian thus ended a series of eight games without a goal.
Antony opened the scoring against Everton early on by sliding in a low cross from Marcus Rashford from close range. It turned out to be the prelude to a 3-1 win, United’s seventh in a row. Afterwards, Antony spoke to the Brazilian TNT Sports. There he told about the tough week he has had.
“I am standing here with a feeling of happiness. I’m happy to score again, all at home. I have set a number of personal goals for myself and it is nice that I scored immediately after I had formulated those goals. But of course the qualification of Manchester United is the most important thing,” Antony started about the match.
“I am also relieved, because a few days ago I was very shocked. I would rather not go into that further, because it is a private situation. But it was very tough. It was a very, very difficult moment for me. I am very grateful to God that I can now put it behind me and I am also grateful to the club, the players and the manager. I am also grateful to my family. In moments like this you notice who really loves you, I dedicate this goal to them,” said Antony, who was missing from the selection for the Premier League game with Bournemouth last Tuesday.
‘It’s done now. I’m glad I scored and hope I can keep going like this because this will be a year where we can win a lot. I am 100 percent focused on that, to give the club and the supporters something. We all know how big this club is, we want to put Manchester United back where it belongs,” said Antony.
