In the wake of rumours linking him to Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, high-rated midfielder Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City is free to sign his first professional contract today.
Performances by the Englishman have given rise to interest from United and Dortmund, both of whom are hoping to snap the prospect up this summer.
Latest reports say that Dortmund won the race for his contract, with Bellingham noticing the strides made by Jadon Sancho at the German outfit during his decision to pick them up over a move to Old Trafford.
His contract is believed to be worth an estimated £15 m, but with add-ons and rewards that could grow to close to £25 m.
Bellingham has scored four goals for Birmingham City to date, and created three more in his 34 appearances in the Championship.
He has been a regular member of this season’s first team, making 37 starts for the club at the age of just 16, including 34 in the Championship.
Today, the youngster is celebrating his 17th birthday, suggesting he will now commit to a pro contract with Birmingham or any other interested parties.
