Manchester United Football Club are willing to extend Bruno Fernandes’ stay at Old Trafford with a fresh deal to stay. Indeed, among other football news today, seemingly, renewing Fernandes’ contract is Manchester United’s top priority but there are some snags.
Bruno Fernandes joined Manchester side from Sporting Lisbon back in 2020.
And the Portuguese midfielder has scored 4 goals and provided one more in 7 Premier League fixtures this season.
Renewing Fernandes’ Contract Is Manchester United’s Top Priority
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the board at Manchester United consider the Portuguese’s contract extension an absolute ‘top priority’.
But Romano goes on to report that there are still two major issues in deliberation for Bruno Fernandes’ contract extension. These two issues are holding up the contract’s finalization, even though both parties have enough willingness to reach an agreement.
Salary is one issue because Fernandes is one of the lower paid “star players” at Manchester United. Another problem is the length of the contract specifying how much further he will be bound to Old Trafford.
Given that Fernandes is 27, United may not want to offer him a big money deal with significant wages. These wages may last until he is 32 or 33 on a long-term deal, and they’d be stuck paying it.
And so, with these concerns, the talks over salary and duration of the contract between both parties are still ongoing.
Previous reports stated that a new deal for Bruno Fernandes would likely run until the year of 2026.
