Senegal’s Sadio Mane stays in the World Cup squad. According to Senegalese federation authorities, the forward will travel to Qatar despite his injuries.
Senegal was stunned when Mané was sidelined at Bayern Munich on Tuesday. The words that followed the investigation refuted trainer Julian Nagelsmann’s prior upbeat statements. Mane would be required to sit out for a number of weeks, effectively putting the World Cup out of his mind.
Senegal’s Sadio Mane will feature irrespective of recovery
However, a union source claims that the obstacles will not prohibit Mane from competing in the World Cup. “Mane will undoubtedly be on the list on Friday. He’s calm, and he’s aware that injuries are possible.”
Mané’s injury is also causing concern in the country, with L’Equipe reporting on Wednesday that the Bayern forward would miss the World Cup due to a tendon injury. On Twitter, President Macky Sall hailed Mané. “Lionheart, Sadio! I absolutely agree with you! God’s blessings!”
According to a Senegalese federation official, despite Mane’s loss from Tuesday’s league match against Werder Bremen, national team coach Aliou Cissé would just select him. “One thing is for certain: Mane should be on the roster on Friday,” the AFP news agency reports.
FIFA’s Senegalese Secretary-General, Fatma Samoura, told Europe 1 on Thursday afternoon. “We’re planning to use medical personnel,” Samoura added. “She is doubtful if it does have any effect. For the time being, though, we are taking everything. We’re praying for a miracle. He has to be there!”
The Netherlands’ first World Cup opponent is Senegal. The two nations will meet on November 21. The Senegalese national football team is hoping that the former Liverpool player has recovered. At the very least by the knockout stages, if they make it out of the group.
