The situation of Jadon Sancho continues to occupy the mind. The Manchester United attacker is still not available for manager Erik ten Hag, who again preaches patience. “I think he’s on the right track,” Ten Hag assures.
Sancho’s situation is known. In November, the attacker suddenly turned up at the Brabant amateur club OJC Rosmalen. While the rest of the available players went on training camps during the World Cup, Sancho kept up his fitness individually. Nearly two months later, the winger is still not match fit. Sancho’s last game dates from October 22, when United pulled out a draw against Chelsea (1-1) at the last minute.
“I would prefer to have Jadon back as soon as possible,” The Guardian wrote down the words of Ten Hag, who is tight with the fit wingers. Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract was torn apart, Antony is struggling with a dip in form. Retrieving the leased Amad Diallo meanwhile seems to be a serious option. The manager added, “We have a problem at the forefront, so it’s hard to be patient. I do everything in my power with Jadon, but some processes you can’t force and this is one of them.”
“I don’t know when yet,” Ten Hag admits
Ten Hag could not yet indicate when Sancho will return to United’s match selection. “We still have some hurdles to overcome, but I think he is on the right track. At the moment, however, he is not yet fit enough. Physically, indeed. But physical is also connected to mental. He is now making steps in the physical field and that will help him. Hopefully he can return soon, but I don’t know when yet,” Ten Hag admits.
Finally, Ten Hag was asked why an important player who is not injured has been missing for a long time. He answered, “For many top athletes, both in football and in other sports, it is sometimes good to leave your familiar surroundings for a while and gain new experiences. Everyone needs a different approach to get back on track. Football players are not robots and no one is the same. In consultation with Jadon, we thought this was the best choice.”
