After questions about his future at Leicester City, Youri Tielemans stated that he is ‘open to everything.’ Barcelona, in desperate need for a midfielder in the 2021-22 season, have a keen eye on Tielemans (football transfers). And now, Sky Sports, via an exclusive interview with the man himself, bring football news of the Leicester midfielder. In this interview, Tielemans discusses his future with Leicester after links to Barca have emerged in big waves.
Tielemans piqued Liverpool’s interest in the summer, while Manchester United and Tottenham have also previously been keen on the midfielder.
La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have recently been sniffing around as well.
And more clubs are likely going to join the race for Tielemans from Leicester City before January’s winter transfer window.
Leicester themselves, on the other hand, would suffer a significant setback if Tielemans were to leave them soon.
After all, he hasn’t missed a single game in all competitions since joining the club. Indeed, we can go so far as to say that he is crucial to the way they play.
In addition to all this, his wonder strike in last season’s final ended the club’s wait for FA Cup glory.
Tielemans’ contract with Leicester expires in 2023, and 90min understands that the club offered him new terms several months ago. But the talks are still ongoing.
Tielemans Discusses His Future with Leicester after Links to Barca
Leicester City remains optimistic about reaching an agreement with Youri Tielemans. But during an interview with Sky Sports, the player did little to quell speculation about his future.
Asked for any news about a fresh contract, he replied: “There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.
“As long as I’m here I will give everything for the club. I’ve already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it’s a normal situation. There are talks going on – I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. We will see.”
If Tielemans is forced to leave, Leicester appear to have a ready-made replacement for their star midfielder in Boubakary Soumare.
The latter, a 22-year-old Frenchman, arrived from Lille over the summer. But he has yet to make an impression after only three substitute appearances.
