The Masters: Following his recent retirement from The Masters, Tiger Woods had ankle surgery.
Because of worsening plantar fasciitis, the 15-time major champion withdrew from this year’s competition at Augusta National before the third round resumed.
Woods’ social media update on Wednesday indicated that he had undergone surgery to treat arthritis brought on by ankle issues.

The statement read, “Tiger Woods underwent a subtalar fusion treatment earlier today to treat post-traumatic arthritis from his prior talus fracture.”
“Dr Martin O’Malley carried out the procedure at the HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York City. He concluded that the procedure was successful.
“Tiger is healing at the moment and is eager to start his recovery.”
Woods, who was playing in The Masters for just the second time this year, overcame chilly, rainy conditions to shoot a second-round score of 74 on Saturday morning, tying the tournament record for most consecutive cuts with 23.
After bogeying his final two holes, he managed to finish under the cut mark of three over, leaving Woods further behind following a disastrous start to his third round.
Woods recorded two bogeys and two double-bogeys over his first seven holes, leaving the former world No. 1 on nine over for the competition and at the bottom of the leaderboard by three shots. Woods appeared to be in physical distress.
After deciding against playing what would have been an extended Sunday, he has only completed 72 holes twice since suffering potentially fatal leg injuries in a vehicle accident in February 2021.
Woods withdrew from the Hero World Challenge in November of last year due to plantar pain as well, however, he participated in the PNC Championship later that month and the Genesis Invitational in February.
Woods earlier declared, “I am not going to play too much more than that. Every year from here on out is to play in all the majors.”
His next appearance is slated for the PGA Championship, which he has won four times. However, it is uncertain whether he will be able to compete from May 18 to 21 at Oak Hill Country Course due to injury.
