DP World Tour: The DP World Tour will guarantee players 150,000 US Dollars (£133,000) for the upcoming season as the latest countermeasure against LIV Golf’s threat.
Players who are exempt from the programme will be paid if they participate in at least 15 tournaments under a new Earnings Assurance Program. A similar programme with a rookie guarantee of 500,000 dollars (£445,000) was introduced by the PGA Tour in August.
This season, each Saudi-sponsored LIV Golf competition had a last-place prize of 120,000 USD (£106,000). In both individual and team prize money, Dustin Johnson made more than 35 million dollars (£32 million).
Announcing a record prize pool of 144.2 million dollars (£128 million) split among 39 competitions, DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelley said: “It is incredibly significant for us to be able to provide our members with record prize funds and improved earning opportunities, especially given that the pandemic’s effects on the world’s economies are still being felt and that the new challenge of rising inflation is significantly pushing up costs across all areas of our business.
“In addition to demonstrating the strength of our cooperation with the PGA Tour, who are working with us to drive revenue and a long-term growth plan, our overall prize fund for the 2023 season is 50 million more than the 2021 season.
“The new Earnings Assurance Programme, which is comparable to what is already in place on the PGA Tour, is just one of the numerous advantages we have been able to provide as a result of this cooperation.
“Simply obtaining playing privileges on the DP World Tour, in my opinion, is a fantastic accomplishment for any professional golfer, and this new effort recognises and celebrates that accomplishment.
Although the meritocracy and purity of a system based on performance will always have a special place in our hearts, it now provides players who have reached the peak of the professional game in Europe with financial security.

The prize money for the first four Rolex Series competitions—the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Dubai Desert Classic, Genesis Scottish Open, and BMW PGA Championship—will all increase to £8 million, with the DP World Tour Championship carrying a £9 million purse.
Following the Open Championship in July, there will be a three-week hiatus as a result of player feedback.
