Leeds United: Rickie Fowler has said that he is interested in investing in Leeds United, with other American golfers Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth possibly potentially engaged; 49ers Enterprises just agreed to acquire the controlling ownership in the squad from Andrea Radrizzani.
Rickie Fowler has disclosed that he is considering investing in Leeds United as part of the 49ers takeover.
Last Friday, after months of negotiations with owner Andrea Radrizzani, 49ers Enterprises decided to purchase the majority share in Leeds.
At the US Open in Los Angeles, Fowler informed us that fellow great players Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth may “potentially” be engaged with the club now that the acquisition is nearing completion.
When asked by Sky Sports’ Jamie Weir if he was a part-owner of Leeds United, Fowler said, “Not yet, technically.
“There is a group that is pursuing involvement with Leeds. Myself, JT (Justin Thomas), and Jordan (Spieth) might all be involved.”

When asked sarcastically whether Leeds-supporting caddy Billy Foster had been recruiting them, Fowler said, “He wasn’t aware of it from the start.”
“But we told him because we knew he was a huge Leeds United fan.
“Having such opportunities is fantastic. I’m sure we’re looking into it. It will be exciting if we are able to participate.
If not, we’ll continue to support Leeds to see if we can aid Billy.
“They were obviously relegated, but being able to travel to a Premier League or Champions League game… Obviously, you call it football over there, and we call it football here… It is a significant sport.
“I feel like it’s getting bigger in the States, but because I haven’t been to a game, I don’t have a true appreciation for it until I’ve actually been able to go and be there and feel that energy.”
