PGA Tour: At the Sony Open in Hawaii, Si Woo Kim won by one stroke over Hayden Buckley after birdieing his final two holes. Ben Taylor of England tied for fourth place.
Kim finished his event with a six-under 64 and finished on 18 under par. He made eight birdies in total during his final round, including five on the front nine.
At the par-3 17th hole, the South Korean’s tee shot missed the green, but he was able to chip in from 28 feet for what turned out to be a critical birdie.
With Buckley now tied with him at 17 under after that shot, Kim won by one stroke because Buckley was unable to pick up a shot and force a playoff.
Kim’s victory was his fourth on the PGA Tour and his first since winning The American Express in January 2021 by defeating Patrick Cantlay by one shot.
The American, who started his round three strokes ahead of the Korean, played a two-under 68 with four birdies mixed in with two bogeys to finish one shot behind Kim on this occasion.
Taylor, an Englishman who was born in Epsom, recorded a final-round score of 69, which included birdies at holes nine and 18, as well as a dropped shot at hole 14. Taylor trailed Kim by four shots.
Andrew Putnam and David Lipsky joined Taylor in a tie for fourth place on 14 under par, while Chris Kirk finished third at 15 under par.
Kim: They said it couldn’t get much better than this.
Si Woo Kim: “My first event win feels like a first, and it can’t get any better than this. There is still a lot of the season left, which is incredibly exciting. I’m attempting to boost my confidence so that, ideally, more wins would follow.”
Hayden Buckley, the 54-hold leader: “I feel like I was in complete control of the tournament up until a late miss on 15 from three or four feet really hurt.

“At age 16, I recovered with a birdie and gave myself a shot. Overall, I was proud of what I accomplished, and I believe that if I think back on this day, it will only improve me.”
