Solheim Cup: In 2026, Bernardus Golf will play home to the biennial competition for the first time ever in the Netherlands.
The Dutch Open on the DP World Tour has been held twice at the Cromvoirt, close to Eindhoven, Bernardus Golf, which opened in 2018 and will host the event once again in 2023.
The Championship course is a heathland golf course with challenging water hazards, a condensed layout, an aesthetically pleasing clubhouse, and top-notch practice facilities. It was created by renowned American golf course architect Kyle Phillips.
The Royal Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) supported the Bernardus Solheim Cup bid with the goal of producing a world-class Solheim Cup, setting a standard for women’s sporting competitions, and leaving a long-lasting positive legacy for Bernardus, Dutch golf, the Netherlands, and the local community.
We are very thrilled to be hosting the Solheim Cup in 2026 and to partner with the Royal Dutch Golf Federation, IMG, the LET, and LPGA, said Robert van der Wallen, owner of Bernardus and chairman of PSV Eindhoven.
“Our entire team is extremely honoured to have the chance to organise an event of this magnitude in the world of sports. Experience is what Bernardus is all about, and we are already working to make sure we do our part to set the stage for a world-class Solheim Cup event in September 2026.”
Golf is the fourth most popular sport in the Netherlands, with more than 420,000 players, and this number is still rising.
NGF President and EGA President-Elect Caroline Huyskes stated: “The arrival of the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands makes me happy. This event supports the NGF’s goal of luring women and reviving the sport in our nation. One of the biggest women’s sports competitions in the world coming to the Netherlands is a testament to our ambition and tenacity.”
The European Solheim Cup will be delivered by IMG for the first time in this edition. IMG was chosen by the LET as the delivery partner for an initial commitment from 2026 through the end of 2038.
“Working with IMG, we feel that in Bernardus and the NGF, we have chosen the appropriate partner for the 2026 Solheim Cup in what will be the 20th edition of the match,” said Alexandra Armas, chief executive of the Ladies European Tour, speaking on behalf of the LET JV.
The 2023 Ryder Cup will be held at Marco Simone GC in the suburbs of Rome, Italy, the week before the Solheim Cup is held at Finca Cortesin, Spain, from September 22–24.
To avoid competing with the Ryder Cup, the Solheim Cup will move to even-numbered years starting in 2024. That year, it will be held from September 13–15 at the Robert Trent Jones course in Virginia.
