Solheim Cup: The biennial competition will be held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, on September 13–15, 2024, following the matchup in Spain the following year.
The 2024 Solheim Cup executive director, Lindsay Allen, said, “We are so happy to finally release the official dates of the 2024 Cup, marking another step closer to bringing this magnificent competition to life.” The Solheim Cup is already being graciously hosted by the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club and the surrounding region of Northern Virginia, which is providing the venue for what will certainly be a must-see event for sports enthusiasts all around the world.
In 24 there will be a new points system. The 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions will mark the beginning of the U.S. Team’s point system. Players who place in the top 40 at LPGA events will get points, and in the majors, those points will be doubled. All point values during the Solheim Cup year will rise by 50%.
The top seven women in the U.S. Solheim Cup points standings, along with the top two players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings who weren’t already selected and three captain’s choices, will be elected to the team at the completion of the 2024 qualification season.
The previous point system will be used by the 2023 U.S. team, with points doubled for major championships, won for top-20 results, and points increasing by 50% in Solheim Cup years. After the ’23 CP Women’s Open, the U.S. Team qualification period will come to an end.
For the second time in history, the Solheim will be played alongside the Ryder in 2024.
