Tiger Woods revealed on Wednesday that he will take part in the Hero World Challenge the following month.
Since missing the cut at the Open Championship at St. Andrews in July, which may have been his final Open, Woods has not competed. He’s participated in nine competitive rounds so far this year.
The 20-man exhibition at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas is run by Woods’ foundation, so The Hero, which is set for Dec. 1-4, is a perfect comeback place for Woods. He has participated in the competition four out of the last five years, despite needing to heal from a number of ailments.
I am excited to announce that I will be in the field for this year’s #HeroWorldChallenge. A big welcome to @K_Kisner and @TommyFleetwood1 for joining us as well. See you soon at Albany!

Three tournament sponsor exemptions remained unfilled when the first field list for the Hero was released last month. Tommy Fleetwood and Kevin Kisner will complete the field, with Woods claiming one of those slots.
Will Zalatoris, who is currently healing from a back injury, will be replaced, according to tournament authorities’ announcement from last week. Shane Lowry.
Given that Woods will be 47 soon, December may be a busy month for him.
He is scheduled to at least participate in the Hero and the match against Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas on December 10. After finishing as runners-up in the PNC Championship last year, it is still unknown if he would compete again with his son Charlie.
