Keegan Bradley survived a back-nine wobble to win the Travelers Championship by three strokes, his second PGA Tour victory of the season.
The former major champion carried a one-shot lead into the final day at TPC River Highlands and led by as much as six shots before hitting three bogeys in a four-hole stretch to give the pursuing group hope.
Bradley returned to close with a two-under 68 to win his sixth PGA Tour title, eight months after winning the Zozo Championship, putting him comfortably clear of nearest opponents Zac Blair and Brian Harman, who were tied for second on 20 under.
Scottie Scheffler finished tied-fourth with Patrick Cantlay and Chez Reavie, while Rory McIlroy shot a final-round 64 to share seventh place, his eighth top-10 result on the PGA Tour.
How Bradley capped off a tremendous win?
Bradley soon took charge of the event by following an eight-foot birdie at the third with a 12-footer at the next, which was enough to put him four shots ahead when Chez Reavie missed from six feet and bogeyed the par-three fifth.
Bradley momentarily led after a two-putt birdie at the par-five sixth, only for Blair to follow a remarkable eagle at the par-five 13th by birdieing his next three holes to set the clubhouse goal at 20 under.
Bradley scrambled a par from the greenside bunker on the eighth to reach the turn in 32, then moved six clear with back-to-back birdies on the 11th.
The former PGA champion gave the chasers hope when he found water off the par-five 13th tee and then chose to use a putter from a pitch mark off the following green, resulting in back-to-back bogeys, while Cantlay scored three straight birdies from the 13th to trim the advantage to three.
Cantlay bogeyed the 16th and failed to convert on a fantastic birdie opportunity at the next, allowing Bradley to maintain his lead despite failing to profit on the driveable 15th and then bogeying the par-three next.
Bradley made a two-putt par on the 17th to keep his three-shot lead going into the 18th, where he signed off with a par before celebrating with his family.
“I’m just so proud to win this tournament,” Bradley remarked. “Travelers and everyone involved put on an excellent tournament.” It’s been this way for a decade, and I’m overjoyed to be the winner here.”
