Ryder Cup: Seamus Power of Ireland increased his chances of winning the Ryder Cup by winning the Bermuda Championship, his second PGA Tour victory.
Thomas Detry of Belgium was edged out by Power’s final-day 70 after three rounds of 65.
“I knew it was going to be incredibly difficult coming in, and you’re going to make some birdies on the front,” says power.
Power, who won the Barbasol Championship in 2021, has been open about his desire to play for Europe in the Ryder Cup in Rome in September.
The County Waterford player, 35, finished with a triumph despite bogeying the last hole when his approach shot slid off the fake front of the green.
Power claims. “Even while it seems completely different from the first win, this one is just as impressive. Because I participate in numerous tournaments, it will take some time for it to become established.”
With a final round of 70, Detry outlasted Power by making birdies on holes 17 and 18.
Sunday’s Portuguese Masters was won by England’s Jordan Smith, and Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald expressed his satisfaction with the performance of certain probable European team members.
Trump tweeted: “Smith, Power, and Detry: 1, 1, and 2. I’m overjoyed about that. A successful week for golf in Europe.”
