The top player, 34, instantly grabbed at his right knee, remained on the ground for a little period of time, and then limped back to the locker room.
With a 27-13 record, one game behind Boston for the best record in the NBA, Durant has led the Nets to 18 victories in their previous 20 games.
The Nets had an 11-game losing streak and a 5-16 skid when Durant missed six weeks of last season due to a knee sprain.
Thursday’s game between the Boston Celtics and the Nets is at home.
Durant might be able to participate in the All-Star Game on February 19 in Salt Lake City.
