Boxing Fight: Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury have decided to square off next.
The highly awaited bout between the two, who are currently vying for all four of the main heavyweight world championship belts, would determine the undisputed heavyweight world champion.
According to Bob Arum of Top Rank, the US organisation that co-promotes Fury with Queensberry Promotions in the UK, neither the WBC champion Fury nor the undisputed WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight champion Usyk would fight before that matchup.
Only the precise date and place of their undisputed bout in early 2023 need to be determined, according to Fury and Usyk.
According to Arum, the following fight will be between the two fighters.
“We’re dealing with two adults in Fury and Usyk, so there won’t be a lot of back and forth [rubbish]. Tyson is Superman, both as an athlete and an intellectual, and Usyk is a good friend of mine who is also very intelligent,” He went on.
“Therefore, they want to fight. There won’t be much, if any, “messing around,” as they both want to fight. So we’ll be able to accomplish it. I’m incredibly confident. As I already stated, the boxers have both agreed to fight each other directly after any more battles.”
Despite hefty proposals to move the fight to a location in the Middle East, the UK is still in the running to host it.
Arum enquired, “What day will it be and where will it be are the current questions.” “But it is certain that this conflict will arise, and it will do so in the first quarter of 2019.
“The possibility of staging the fight in the UK at Wembley Stadium in front of a huge 95,000-person audience is also being considered, along with a few sizable proposals from the Middle East.
“Money is crucial for fighters because their lifespans are quite brief. Therefore, it must be considered whether the money that has been suggested to us is real.”
But he continued, “For me, it truly stirs up the blood to go back to Wembley and do a fight in front of 95,000 people.
“It would be absurd. It would be really fantastic.”
The time between now and the final decision shouldn’t be too long. We’ll figure it all out, Arum assured. “Perhaps towards the end of the year,” I hope.
