According to promoter Ben-Shalom, Amir Khan must first “show he’s not finished” before considering a rematch with Kell Brook.
Khan was stopped in the sixth round of their long-awaited grudge contest last month, but a rematch clause might be activated.
Brook has since met with Chris Eubank Jr to discuss a “summer blockbuster.”
While Shalom believes Khan will return to the ring, he believes the 35-year-old should first consider a warm-up fight before rematching Brook.
“Amir I think will fight,” said Shalom. “He will fight again, he wants to fight again.
Khan admitted that his enthusiasm for boxing had faded in the aftermath of his loss to Brook, but Shalom believes he was not fully fit and does not want his boxing career to finish on such a low note.
“I believe him that he was injured [against Brook],” said Shalom. “I do believe that there were some issues with the camp and he only had 10 weeks.
“It’s for him to prove he’s not finished, it’s for him to prove it’s not just about the money, and therefore I think another fight to show that might be more appropriate before he takes on someone like Kell Brook.”
In the summer, Eubank Jr. would ‘enjoy’ a blockbuster bout with Brook.
As favourable conversations between the boxers continue, Chris Eubank Jr’s promoter Kalle Sauerland “would love” to finalise a “summer blockbuster” against Kell Brook.
Wasserman’s president of worldwide boxing, Sauerland, has been negotiating arrangements for a massive fight between Eubank Jr and Brook, which will most likely be held at a catchweight.
For his grudge fight win over Liam Williams, Eubank Jr fought under the 160-pound middleweight limit, whereas Brook fought under the 149-pound limit for his stoppage victory against arch-rival Amir Khan, which was promoted by Boxxer.
“I can confirm that we spoke with Boxxer last week and that they are now in contact with Brook,” Sauerland told Sky Sports.
“We’re in a positive dialogue and it’s a fight that we would love to get made.
“The question is whether certain issues can be resolved. If everyone is sensible, I can see that happening and I can see it being a big summer blockbuster.
“But there’s still work to be done. We’re ready. Our terms are known.”
