Boxing Live: Since restarting his career, Jarrell Miller has added three wins to his 27-fight undefeated record, and promoter Dmitriy Salita is going to pitch him as an opponent for Anthony Joshua, who was unable to accept terms for a rematch with Dillian Whyte.
After discussions for a rematch with Dillian Whyte fell through, Anthony Joshua is expected to be offered an alternative opponent.
The American heavyweight tested positive for prohibited drugs in 2019, putting a halt to preparations for a bout in New York, but Miller’s promoter Dmitriy Salita has indicated he will bring Miller up as a prospective battle for Joshua again.
Negotiations for Joshua’s scheduled rematch with Whyte have stalled, with Whyte questioning if his British opponent is serious about a second fight.
However, Joshua is anticipated to return to the ring on August 12 at The O2.
Since restarting his career, Miller has added three wins to his 27-fight unblemished record, including a March knockout of Lucas Browne.
Why did the Whyte rematch fail?
Whyte had wanted to face Joshua in the summer, but feels the former world champion is more interested in a bout with Deontay Wilder in the Middle East towards the end of the year.
“I don’t think they’re serious about the fight,” Whyte previously stated to Sky Sports.
“I don’t blame them for being concerned about the battle.
“It just baffles me that he’s going to get £50 million to fight Wilder in Saudi Arabia in December. Why would they risk a battle with me?
“It makes no sense.” To be honest, I’m not surprised.”
