Boxing Match: After falling short to his opponent in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, Jake Paul is optimistic about his chance at retribution against Tommy Fury.
The smouldering rivalry between the two men reached its climax inside the ring in February, where Fury’s superior boxing knowledge and skill helped him defeat the YouTuber-turned-boxer by a split decision.
It broke Paul’s six-fight winning streak and unblemished record. During that time, he had defeated former UFC stars Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren with decisive knockout victories.
Paul, who is scheduled to fight Nate Diaz on August 5, is still committed to facing Fury again in light of the tremendous interest generated by their first encounter.
At the Miami Grand Prix, Paul told Sky Sports, “It will happen, it will happen for sure.”
“I think we have to run it back. It was a terrific fight, it was entertaining, and it was the greatest pay-per-view buy in boxing for the past two years.
“Tommy is down, and that makes me happy.”
After Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk failed to finalise their anticipated undisputed heavyweight match, Paul urged top boxers throughout the sport to make the process of agreeing on important matches simpler.
“It’s aggravating, I think, that boxing fighters aren’t willing to put everything on the line and risk losing their perfect record,” he continued.
“Their history and being undefeated are more significant to them because Floyd Mayweather set the bar so high in the sport that losing is swept under the rug’ in boxing.
“However, more champions ought to challenge other well-known opponents, which is why I admire Ryan Garcia for agreeing to the Tank battle in the first place.
“Even though he lost, he did something that many other fighters don’t do and brought about big fights.”
